Introduction to the role of lifestyle medicine for cancer prevention and survival.
Lifestyle medicine is the fastest growing medical speciality globally. It is an evidence-based discipline which addresses the root cause of chronic health conditions by focusing on the lifestyle choices that give rise to these diseases in the first place.
The six pillars of lifestyle medicine are a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, regular physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connection. It is estimated that by addressing these key lifestyle factors 80% or more of our common chronic diseases could be prevented or delayed.
Lifestyle habits play are key role in the prevention of cancer and supporting patients to live well after a diagnosis of cancer.
These three introductory talks will take you through the evidence supporting a lifestyle medicine approach for cancer, how to incorporate this learning into your clinical practice and a focus on healthy diet and nutrition. The teaching has been created by the team at Plant Based Health Online, the UK’s first CQC-regulated online, plant-based lifestyle medicine service.
